Derived from the walls of the New Town Hall in Munich, Germany, Marienplatz is a transitional Blackletter display typeface.
Marienplatz resembles elements of hand-lettering through the use of curved terminals that establish a less rigid tone than traditional blackletter. With only minuscule letterforms and the implementation of organic shapes, Marienplatz intentionally deviates from connection to Fraktur letterforms co-opted by the German National Socialist party. By applying contrasting elements to the letterforms, Marienplatz reclaims the original purpose of pre-WWII Blackletter typography.
Marienplatz contains 1 weight and 6 styles, with a regular, outlined, shortened, shortened outline, oblique, and oblique outline.
